Within just a few hours, this international initiative united prominent figures in caricature and satire from nearly 20 nations. 🇬🇧 The announcement of the creation of the International Cartoon Institute was not a fleeting event, but a continuation of a prior vision by the Polish artist Szczepan Sadurski. He previously founded the World Caricature Institute, which brought together dozens of international personalities and significantly contributed to the development of the art of caricature. Reading the Institute’s statement, we discover that its message is one of life, and its essence is the celebration of a boundless creative spirit.
In the face of the hatred permeating the world and endless conflicts, art as such stands in opposition, and caricature is on the front line of the struggle against evil.
In the face of the artistic void hanging over the world, the International Cartoon Institute emerges to illuminate a path filled with thorns and difficulties for everyone. We are trapped in a cycle of loss and have no other refuge than art and the colors with which we will decorate the sky of the world to repel the specter of war from our countries. Some ask: Is a smile enough in these circumstances? We answer: Yes, that is our domain. Art can create a new equation, changing prevailing norms and building a beautiful coexistence among all diverse groups in the world. We emphasize here the importance of the art of caricature in opening closed doors and presenting their keys on a silver platter of words, colors, ideas, and creativity.
The establishment of the World Caricature Institute will be a space for expression, a platform for artists who wish to reveal themselves and say anything. The artist Szczepan Sadurski must be recognized for initiating this idea for the good of all.
